Canal Tour - Stockholm - May 25, 2015

To end the day and do some passive sightseeing - sitting rather than walking, I decided to take the Royal Canal Tour:

In their own words:

Join us on a tour through the greener parts of Stockholm. We depart from Strömkajen in the centre of Stockholm going out through the Djurgården canal.

Leaving the inner city behind, we’ll pass beautiful and famous buildings as we enter the peaceful Djurgården canal. On the canal we will pass several historical buildings, museums and beautiful green areas. When we head home, a fabulous view of the Stockholm skyline opens up – only to be seen from the water!

The tour is guided in 11 languages. On board we have crayons and paper for the kids.

It was billed as a one-hour tour, and was well worth it.  Although the boat was enclosed and warm there was a covered area in the back where one could take pictures unencumbered.  That's where I went.  Later it got way too cold, and I moved back into the boat.

(Yes, that is a picture of someone fishing IN the water!)

Stockholm is amazing given the number of green spaces they managed to keep and grow.  Green everywhere.  People were out walking in spite of the cold weather, and they were wearing far fewer clothes than I was.

You could spend weeks just walking around the islands, parks, and designated and non-designated green spaces in and around the city.  Maybe for another time and sometime later in the year to be sure.

I hope you enjoy the pics.
