The weatherman predicted a beautiful sunny day today, so I thought I'd take advantage and go to the Botanical Gardens in Brooklyn as well as the Brooklyn Museum of Art.
Here are two links for those of you who would like to get more info:
http://www.brooklynmuseum.org for the Museum & http://www.bbg.org/ for the Botanical Gardens. I'll be posting another page for the Gardens.
As stated previously, I needed a long night's sleep to get over the lack of sleep and maybe jet lag from the trip. I woke up early, though, and planned my day. I finished up the blog and got my message out and was able to get ready and out of the door by about 10 am. The Museum didn't open until 11 am, so I had time to spare.
NYC has a restaurant on every block practically, so finding breakfast was a breeze. Lots of choices and prices to fit every budget. Nothing is cheap, here, but you can find some bargains if you look, and do your homework.
With my unlimited Metro Card on hand, I boarded the subway and two trains and one change and 20 minutes later, I was in front of the Brooklyn Museum. Couldn't have been simpler. Getting back home was just as easy.
I still want to get to The Cloisters tomorrow and hopefully walk around the city and Central Park some more before I head out Saturday night, so I'll have to get up early the next two days to be able to accomplish that. Maybe I'll take the subway all the way down to the South Ferry and then walk back up - Saturday - depending on the weather.
Anyway, the Museum was a great experience, and the collection was as eclectic as I recall. Most of the pieces I remembered from my last visit with lots of new stuff too, and everything seemed to be in the same place I found it last time I visited (thank you, Museum Staff). There were lots of supervised children's groups on tour, but for the most part, the place was not very crowded compared to the MOMA yesterday. I spent the whole day there and in the gardens before making my way back home.
Here are the pics from the Museum:
